I remember this day perfectly, I was in a (extremely) crappy mood, and it was so windy out you would nearly get blown over when you got out of the car. K and I were driving around and we ended up in the Hamilton harbour area and I took this one photo (after quite a bit of crumbling about the weather, etc.). Turned out OK even with all the negative thoughts that were flying around that afternoon.

Is it just me or does it seem that quite a few of the images in this gallery are from areas around Hamilton!

Coloured Pipes in Hamilton

If I remember correctly, this building in the image is a water plant in downtown Hamilton. Another image taken way back on the rented Nikon D70.

Hamburg Boot Factory

K and I were out driving around one day when we came across a parking lot with this great company sign painted right on the wall of what I am guessing is the factory/headoffice of the Hamburg boot factory. Loved the way that the green sign stood out from the yellow-ish brick wall. Took the image and punched up the contrast just slightly.

Dundas Square downtown Toronto

I took this image while wandering around on my lunch hour with my photo buddy EJ. I love the way that the orange umbrellas stand out in what is mostly a quite cool (bluish)

Burlington Skyway and Purple Sky

Obviously this image has been “slightly” photoshop’d. Taken from Burlington Harbour that’s the Burlington Skyway in the background. The orange colour is real, the purple – not so much.

K and I were walking and I just decided to snap this image, originally it really didn’t do much of anything for me, but the colour change to the sky really made it for me.

Purple Wall

I can’t remember the name of the business that was in this building, but I knew that I needed to take this image the second I came across the building. The contrast of the vines against the purple wall grabbed my eye the second I saw it. Taken in a back alley in downtown St. Catharines

Blue Grafitti and Leaves

I remember thinking that when I took this picture that it probably wouldn’t turn out the way I was hoping, but it just proves that you never know what you’ll end up with. Taken in an alley in downtown St. Catharines I really like the way the bright blue grafitti contrasts with the dark green leaves growing over the window on the opposite side of the image.

Hamilton Parking Garage Visitors

Another image taken on the Nikon D70 rental weekend I mentioned in an earlier post. In guess you haven’t already noticed I am into patterns in architecture, but what grabbed my attention in this image was the two pigeons just chilling out on one of the parking garage levels. The large 32 in the lower-left is just a nice little bonus.

Hamilton run down building

This is an older image taken way back when I was trying to decide whether or not to buy my 1st digital camera. I headed to Vistek in downto Toronto and rented a Nikon D70, since I was pretty sure that I was going to move from a Canon film camera to Nikon Digital. I spent the next three days wandering around downtown Hamilton and St. Catharines taking all sorts of shots to see if I liked the camera or not (I would recomend renting before you buy to anyone!). I am sure that this building is now been transformed to condo’s or something, but I have always just loved this image.

When people see this image printed for the 1st time quite a few of them think that it’s a painting, I’ve actually had one person tell me that I was wrong. Almost made me laugh out loud.
